THE CRISIS AND THE OPPORTUNITY

It doesn’t matter the size of your organization, loss or change of a key executive will often bring on a bit of a crisis. It raises the issue of who will do the work until you find the permanent replacement or the incumbent is back on the job. It may also be a chance to take a hard look at what has been going on in the position.

Is revenue declining? Expenses rising? Profit below target? Your accountant may be able to give you the financial profile of where you stand. However, accounting statements are a report card of how your business has been managed, but they do not tell you how to change it.

As the business grows, the need for experienced overall management, instead of technical competence, is often not addressed appropriately.
